The Philippine National Police supports local trade union developmental initiatives in attaining sustainable peace and economic development in the labor and peasant sectors.
PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas, said Sunday’s launch of the “Hugpong Obrero Labor Federation” in Western Visayas empowers the different trade union organizations under its umbrella with better opportunities and access to government-supported development programs.
“Hugpong Obrero Labor Federation” was formally launched on Sunday in LaPaz, Iloilo City by Sentrong Alyansang mga Mamamayan para sa Bayan (SAMBAYANAN-PANAY) among representatives from the Labor, Transport and Urban Poor Sectors with the theme: “Pabaskugon kag Palaparon ang Paghiliusa sang mga Mamumugon kag Pumuluyo para sa Matuod nga Kalinong kag Kauswagan sang Sambayanan” (Palakasin at Palawakin ang Pagkakaisa ng mga Magsasaka at Mamamayan para sa totoong Kaayusan at Kapayapaan ng Sambayanan).
The SAMBAYANAN-PANAY is a patriotic collective gathering of individuals and groups coming from various sectors which stand to support socio-political stability and the attainment of just, genuine and lasting peace. It openly supports the vision, mission and goal of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) that was activated by EO 70 and functions as people’s alliance and campaign center against sectoral and community infiltration being conducted by the communist terrorist front organizations.
SAMBAYANAN National Chairman, Winefredo C Doblizo Jr., encouraged Hugpon Obrero affiliates to unite and rally behind the cause to promote advocacy for industrial peace and prosperity, responsible exercise of democracy and a reform-driven people supporting free market enterprise.
During the same event, SAMBAYANAN-PANAY also inducted the officers of the Transport Alliance for Sustainable Development (TASD) which is the transport sector conveyor group of group organized to counter moves by the militant communist front transport organizations.
Representatives from frontline service agencies Land Transportation Office Region 6, Department of Labor and Employment Field Office 6, Police Regional Office 6 and Philippine Army were alo present to deliver messages of solidarity of their respective agencies.
The event was capped by an Indignation Rally held at Lapaz Public Plaza to denounce and condemn activities of the CPP/NPA/NDF in Panay.
